ALGIERS — The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, addressed Friday a message on the occasion of the celebration of the 63rd anniversary of Independence Day. The following is the APS translation of his message:
“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,
Prayers and peace be upon His Prophet,
Dear fellow citizens,
Today Algeria celebrates a glorious date that resonates deeply within our hearts. We mark the 63rd anniversary of Independence Day and the recovery of national sovereignty. On this day, the forces of despicable colonialism were driven from our cherished homeland, retreating in defeat after facing courageous men whose hearts were filled with patriotic devotion and unshakeable resolve to set Algeria free.
As we celebrate this glorious anniversary, we keep alive the memory of these immortal epics led by our people who, in their selfless struggle against colonialism and its tyrannical forces, continually sent forth waves of brave martyrs until achieving emphatic victory.
Dear fellow citizens,
Since the dawn of independence, Algeria has been committed to tapping into these immortal milestones that have earned our people a place among the world’s most truly patriotic nations. This effort springs from our unwavering loyalty to the blood shed in sacrifice for the homeland and the memory of the pure souls who gave their lives for the sanctity of its land, its sky and the future of its children.
As we reflect on these shining memories etched in our homeland’s glorious history, we recall the progress made in bolstering our national immunity through strengthening bonds of unity, steadily building the State with stronger institutions and securing both the present welfare of our brave people and the future of its children.
Today’s Algeria engages in a phase founded on a renewed approach to various challenges, driven by the ambition to overcome challenges with complete confidence in our abilities and national resources, inspired by citizens’ sincere hopes.
Our country has reached successive milestones on this path—that of victorious Algeria, true to its principles and bolstering its foundations by working to establish true citizenship. Through the sacrifices of its daughters and sons, it has succeeded in triumphing.
Dear fellow citizens,
The anniversary of our independence and the recovery of our national sovereignty, in addition to awakening memories of the immense sacrifices our people made for its liberation, calls upon us to reflect on the shifts taking place in today’s world. It reminds us how much cohesion, solidarity and patriotic vigilance remain the strongest bulwark protecting nations from upheavals and covetousness.
The Algerian people have always been committed to preserve their unity and close ranks, remaining throughout their various historical milestones an example to other peoples in terms of loyalty to the homeland.
Dear fellow citizens,
As we celebrate this precious and distinguished anniversary in our country’s history, which coincides with Youth Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to my mujahideen brothers and sisters, as well as to all our daughters and sons, offering them my warmest wishes.
I also wish to commend our People’s National Army (PNA), worthy heir of the National Liberation Army (ALN), as well as all the security corps and constituted bodies that work to preserve the security of the homeland and citizens.
I call upon the children of our dear homeland to ramp up their efforts, devotion and vigilance in the face of challenges in line with the spirit of the noble principles that guided our glorious martyrs.
